Please support our Advent Fair on
30th November, 12 Noon in St Joseph’s Hall.
There will be a bottle stall, tombola, Craft stalls (wreaths and Christmas decorations), Father Christmas, Refreshments etc.
parish pilgrimage to St Austin's
On Saturday 28th June Canon Tim and parishioners from St. Michael's and St. Joseph's went on a pilgrimage to St. Austin's, Wakefield, as part of the Jubilee Year of Hope. A minibus took us to the church, which was designated a pilgrimage destination by Bishop Marcus, in time for us to have some moments of private prayer before Mass. We were also able to admire the 500-year-old wooden medieval statue, believed to be an ‘Anna te Drieen’ statue from the Netherlands. The statue depicts St. Anne holding her daughter the Virgin Mary, who in turn is holding the infant Jesus.
Canon Tim celebrated Mass at 12 noon and we were welcomed by members of the local congregation. It was then a short walk to Felice's for a delicious lunch and a chance for everyone to get to know each other. We all returned in high spirits, having had a happy and uplifting day. Thank you to Canon Tim for organising the event and St. Austin's for hosting us.
