St Joseph’s Grotto. On Friday 10thMay 2024, our school celebrated Our Lady with a procession in the Parish. Before entering into chuch, each child placed a flower at the statue in Our Lady’s Grotto.
Our Faith & Friendship group of St Joseph’s Parish started meeting in May 2022, so we have been meeting 18 months now on every 1st Wednesday in each month.
The aim of the F&F group was to get people out and meet other parishioners from St Michaels and St Joseph’s in a social setting. It has proved to be a great success, that we are very proud of. We have different topics such as games from guest speakers to quizzes and bingo! It’s a great couple of hours spending time together, chatting and having fun and learning about different topics.
So, even though the group was originally set up to bring people of the parish together, we realised that we were raising money, so now we could also help local charities too!
We had saved enough money to make our first donation to a local charity!
We contacted the Prince of Wales hospice and found out that they had specific items, they needed to purchase for the hospice to make it more comfortable for the residents. One of those items on their wish list was bed tables that fit over the bed to make mealtimes more comfortable for the bedbound.
So last week, three of us proudly went along to the hospice to present Carol, (who is the fundraising manager) a cheque for the bed tables.
So, we are now saving up to donate to our next local charity.
If you would like to join us in the F&F group, just come along on the 1st Wednesday in each month. Bring along your family and friends too if you wish, the more the merrier!
Look out for the posters in each church for the details of the next meeting.

This Lent, Kate and Hannah Jones are taking on the Big Lent Walk to raise funds for CAFOD. They’ll be walking 200km over the 40 days of Lent to help fight global poverty.
Kate and Hannah would like to invite parishioners to join them for a short walk. For more details and to sign up, please see the sheet at the back of church.
Any donation, large or small, would be very gratefully received. You can sponsor Kate and Hannah and follow their progess on their JustGiving page.
Kate and Hannah completed their Lenten challenge on Wednesday. They have walked a total distance of 282km! On the way they have raised an amazing £650 for CAFOD.
Kate and Hannah say: "Thank you for all your generous donations, for joining us on our group walks and for all the lovely words of support. We've really enjoyed doing the walk (even on rainy days!) and the money raised will make a real difference to CAFOD."
Every £1 raised through the Big Lent Walk will help fight poverty globally in countries like Afghanistan, Colombia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and South Sudan.
