Our Priests

Canon Tim Wiley was born in Leeds and baptised at St Augustine’s, Harehills in Leeds

Canon Tim was educated at St Nicholas Primary School and St Michael’s College Leeds.

After St Michael’s, he worked in the civil Service in Leeds for 6 years until he began training for the priesthood at Ushaw College Durham.

Canon Tim was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Konstant on 9th July 1988 in his home Parish of St Nicholas Leeds.

He was appointed as assistant Priest to St Patricks Leeds where he was also a Chaplain to St James Hospital. Canon Tim was also appointed as Assistant Priest to Mount St Mary’s Leeds before his appointment to St Anne’s Keighley.

In 1994 Canon Tim was appointed as parish Priest of St Columba’s Bradford until 2002, when he was appointed as Parish Priest to St Mary’s Batley.

In 2010 Bishop Roche appointed Canon Tim as Parish Priest of the newly merged Parish of St John Mary Vianney in Leeds.

In September 2019 Canon Tim took up his present appointment to St Joseph’s Pontefract.

In November 2016, Bishop Marcus Stock appointed Canon Tim as a Canon of Leeds Cathedral and a member of the College of Consulters.

Canon Tim is a member of the Diocesan Art Architect and Heritage Committee.

Since 2008 Canon Tim has been a Trustee of the Yorkshire Brethren Society (Helps sick and retired Priests).

He is currently Dean of the Pontefract and Wakefield Deanery.
