On Monday 4th January, scaffolding is being put around St Joseph’s Church. This is the beginning of major repair works to the Gutter, drain -pipes, the walls of the Church and damp work in the Office. The work will take until the end of March. Due to the hard work of Curial Staff in Hinsley Hall we have received grants which will cover most of the Costs (around £40,000). Being a listed building Grade 2*, the VAT which we pay on the works will be refunded. This is hopefully the first of a number of works to be done at St Joseph’s Church.
Permission has been granted for a Toilet in the Church, although this not as much a priority as the structure of the building and its surrounds, it will hopefully be installed in the near future.
As we approach a new Year, your continued support by coming to Church, and your financial support is most needed and of course appreciated at this difficult time.
Marc is a student for the Priesthood for the Diocese and is studying at the English College in Rome.
Marc received the Ministry of Acolyte by Bishop Marcus last Tuesday at Leeds Cathedral.
He will be here initially for his month's placement, and then he will have St Joseph's as a base when he is in England until, God willing, he is Ordained to the Sacred Priesthood.
I am sure you will make Marc very welcome when you see him and keep him and the rest of our Students for the Priesthood in your prayers.
You can watch the role of Acolyte being conferred on Marc by Bishop Marcus by going to the ‘News Page’ of the Diocese of Leeds website (https://www.dioceseofleeds.org.uk/news/
