The Diocese has provided us with the following FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS relating to the
Government’s most recent Covid 19 measures introduced on 14th October 2020.
The new seating arrangement at St Joseph's is now in place. Each seat for use is labelled with its letter and number e.g A1, A2. Those seats not to be used to ensure the 1M distancing is maintained have "Please Do No Sit Here Signs" on them.
Kneelers cannot be used as they would bring the person kneeling too close to the person in front.
The layout for the benches down the centre has been changed from the original plan with the left hand side (when facing the Altar) now accomodating 2 individuals or a Household Group and the right hand side now with the 1M spacing marked off and only 1 seat available.
Please follow the advice of the Stewards as we get used to this new arrangement.
Everyone coming to church, whether for Mass, Private Prayer or other Sacraments must wear a face covering unless they are children under the age of 11 or exempt from doing so for medical reasons. Please ensure that you have a face-covering/mask with you and put it on before entering church.
There will be Stewards present in church during the time it is open who will help and guide visitors. Please follow any advice and guidance they give.
There will be no Toilet facilities available at either church in order to prevent any risk of transmission of infection.
Alcohol Hand Gel will be available and must be used by visitors to sanitise their hands on entry and exit from the church.
Entrance and Exit is by the door at the end of the footbridge next to the school.
Each bench, where seating is permitted, can accommodate 2 Individuals from different Households 1 metre apart, or a group of Adults and Children from the same Household.
The 1M+ rule will apply with the requirement to wear Face Coverings, subject to the official exceptions.
The Benches which are not to be used will have “DO NOT SIT HERE” signs on them.
Communion will be offered at the front of each of the Aisles with communicants being guided, one bench at a time, by a Steward.
You are to stay in your seat at the end of Mass until a Steward advises that you can leave the church.
All the current requirements including the wearing of Face Coverings and use of Hand Cleansing on entry and exit will remain in place.
At times when our school is open, please take care when approaching church and ensure social distancing requirements are maintained.
There will be no Toilet facilities available at church in order to prevent any risk of transmission of infection.
Entrance and Exit is through the main doors at the front.
The benches are separated at 2 metres, but the seating is labelled at 1M. The 1M+ rule will therefore apply with the requirement to wear Face Coverings, subject to the official exceptions.
Visitors are asked to follow the guidance of the Stewards when going to their seat.
Communion will be brought to everyone in their place.
Visitors are to remain in their seat at the end of Mass until a Steward advises that they can leave church.
Toilets are not to be used.
With effect from Saturday 8th August 2020, everyone coming to church, whether for Mass, Private Prayer or other Sacraments must wear a face covering unless they are children under the age of 11 or exempt from doing so for medical reasons.
Please ensure that you have a face-covering/mask with you and to put it on before you enter church.
This is for the good of all who gather in the Church as it is an enclosed public space where there are people from differing households who they do not normally meet.
